The avenue of cypresses
Traveling along the Cassia from San Quirico towards Radicofani, there is certainly no shortage of cypresses. They are an authentic icon of this landscape modulated by the swaying of the hills. But it is towards Poggio Covili that the cypress extends in a double row that cuts into two majestic wheat fields. Beyond the postcard effect, here the cypress finds an exemplary dignity rooted in the soil of immortality. It is no coincidence that the plant is often found near cemeteries, because its roots, going deep into the earth instead of developing horizontally, do not create interference with what is around them. And then, with that shape similar to hands clasped in prayer, they know how to dialogue with the angels, the clouds, the stars.
